Upcoming Albums – August, 27th

Here are Metal Utopia’s most anticipated albums of the week!

Leon is looking forward to Our Place of Worship is Silence’s Disawoved, and And Left Hopeless, Sculptured’s The Liminal Phase, and Thyrfing’s Vanagandr:

Our Place of Worship is Silence – Disawoved, And Left Hopeless

2018’s “With Inexorable Suffering” was an absolute ripper of dense and suffocating black/death metal. On this fact alone I have high hopes that this record will be equally entrancing.

Sculptured – The Liminal Phase

The perhaps a bit ignored child of the late Agalloch’s member Don Anderson returns after a 13 year hiatus. It was always a beautiful and unique blend of progressive melodic death metal, and I don’t doubt we’ll see an equally brilliant performance this time.

Thyrfing – Vanagandr

Speaking of names I haven’t heard in a while, Thyrfing also returns after 8 years without any releases. They’ve always been at the top of the viking metal game and hopefully continue to be.

Rick is looking forward to Spirit Adrift’s Forge Your Future EP:

Spirit Adrift – Forge Your Future EP

Spirit Adrift quickly became one my favourite modern metal bands after last year’s mesmerising album, Enlightened In Eternity, so the promise of new material from this group is enough to spark my interest. The song we’ve heard so far keeps displaying the band’s trademark blend of traditional sounds with modern-day crispness, so the quality is already guaranteed.

Rutger is looking forward to Fluisteraars’ Gegrepen door de geest der zielsontluiking:

Fluisteraars – Gegrepen door de geest der zielsontluiking

Only a year after their previous release Bloem, Fluisteraars release their next full-length. I’m curious how the next record will be in comparison to the previous.
