Upcoming Albums – May, 14th

Here are Metal Utopia’s most anticipated albums of the week!

Chaz is looking forward to Grave Miasma’s Abyss of Wrathful Deities:

This old school UK death metal is a thick, spooky brew of chilling atmospheres, shrill guitar solos, and howling divebombs.

Leon is looking forward to The Monolith Deathcult’s V3 – Vernedering: Connect the Goddamn Dots, Dordeduh’s Har, and Throat’s Smile Less:

TMD is quite an ‘out-there’ band – death metal based, yet loaded with electronics, symphonics, samples, strange grooves, etc. Avant-garde metal perhaps? In any case, a treat for fans of weird stuff.

The legends are back. Founded in 2009 by two former members of Negura Bunget (where they made some of the best black metal music ever), they released the superb Dar de Duh in 2012 and went silent since. Such talent must not go to waste and this is finally being remedied. If folky progressive black metal sounds good, don’t even hesitate.

Finnish sludge/noise rock. I reviewed their last record “Bareback” in 2018 but wasn’t really impressed, though I did note there’s potential. I like the singles so far so I’ll be glad to check out the full thing.

Rutger is looking forward to Wreche’s All My Dreams Came True:

Wreche is an avant-garde black metal duo that makes music on drums and piano. They perfectly interpret all elements of classic black metal on piano, creating a sound that’s both unique as well as intriguing. Can’t wait to hear their next album.
