Upcoming Albums – March 3rd

Here are our most anticipated releases of the week!

Haken are back, and I’m interested to see where they go with this one. Vector was…not great, but Virus was a bounce back for one of the best prog acts of the 2010s. Hoping they can continue that here.

Happy I Voidhanger Day. The consistently weird label is releasing a batch of albums this Friday, including the loud and hectic Skrying Mirror debut album. Omnimalevolence is dense, difficult to listen to, and intriguing. Exactly what I’d expect from this label.

And at the exact opposite end of the I Voidhanger spectrum, we get At The Altar Of The Horned God. This album envelopes the listener in a ritualistic trance and stays in the mind long after the music has stopped.

This is some ridiculous and intense heavy metal. You can judge it entirely based on its cover, but in a good way.

Come for the large list of intriguing guest musicians, stay for the well-put together prog. This won’t turn heads in non-prog circles, but contains some ambitious writing if that’s your thing.

Arriver give us a more introspective take on what metal can be. The band makes full use of every note and of the various tones that their guitars can produce.
