Upcoming Albums – January, 28th

Here are Metal Utopia’s most anticipated albums of the week!

Jared is looking forward to Dawn of Solace’s Flames of Perdition:

Dawn of Solace – Flames of Perdition

Dawn of Solace are releasing their next record, and though I wasn’t huge on their prior release Waves, these Finnish veterans certainly have the resumé to impress. Looking forward to seeing what direction they take on their newest release.

Leon is looking forward to Owls Woods Graves’ Secret Spies of The Horned Patrician, Mur’s Cut The Rivers Vein, and Possessor’s The Speed of Death:

Owls Woods Graves – Secret Spies of The Horned Patrician

From Poland’s revered black metal scene comes another project, this time fusing black metal with hardcore punk. Not a novelty, but executed very well.

Mur – Cut The Rivers Vein

One of those bands that operates on pure expression with little regard for genres and structure. Dark ambient, folk, funeral doom and black metal, each in service to the vision rather than itself. As always, results will divide listeners, but a special experience awaits those that manage to absort it.

Possessor – The Speed of Death

I love thrashy stoner, even though it’s not as common and especially not common done properly. Possessor manages it, fusing the sounds seamlessly instead of presenting some half-cooked mash.

Rutger is looking forward to Celeste’s Assassine(s):

Celeste – Assassine(s)

French black/sludge/post-hardcore band Celeste release their sixth full-length this Friday. With this band, you know what you can count on: a wall of sound, with surprisingly captivating riffs. Let’s hope the new record lives up to the quality of the rest of their discography
