Album of the Month

Album of the Month – April, 2022

Every month we collect our favorite albums of the month. Here’s the playlist with our favorite songs:

Our favorite albums of the month April:

Jared:

Concilivum – A Monument in Darkness

Very fortunate to have reviewed this one. Cavernous and intense yet dynamic and filled to the brim with riffs. Haunting vocals and fantastic drum work cap off this great death metal record that still not enough people are talking about. My runner up is of course Sentient Horror, which you should also definitely check out.

Nathan:

Tranzat – Ouh La La

Tranzat can be a little much at times, but their jazzy prog metal approach creates some damn good songs.

Rick:

Skull Fist – Paid In Full

A proper comeback after a slighty disappointing album for Skull Fist. Energetic, genuine and ready to set everything ablaze, this album has had a difficult genesis but now that is has seen the light it marks the return of one of the most important heavy metal band nowadays.

Rutger:

Freja – Tides

Tides is the impressive debut record of Dutch atmospheric black metal duo Freja. The album is well-composed, has captivating soundscapes, and a lot of variety, especially in the vocals.

Leon:

Greyhaven – This Bright and Beautiful World

Well now that The Dillinger Escape Plan, and very recently Every Time I Die, no longer exist, what’s a fan to do? Well, there’s a perhaps underappreciated band (at least compared to the two) that just released a new record, and let me tell you, it does all that the aforementioned do and does it just as well.

Matthew:

Meshuggah – Immutable

Meshuggah’s Immutable is a well-oiled machine that rips its way through the ear canal and lacerates the cranium. There’s no mystery to the band’s heavy-yet-groovy formula, but I just can’t get enough of it.
