Upcoming Albums – May, 21st

Here are Metal Utopia’s most anticipated albums of the week!

Leon, Rutger and Sean are looking forward to An Autumn for Crippled Children’s As the Morning Dawns We Close Our Eyes:

An Autumn for Crippled Children – As the Morning Dawns We Close Our Eyes

Leading purveyors of dejected yet saccharine blackgaze put out their ninth full-length. You can always count on these guys to deliver quality melancholia.

Only last year, the Dutch blackgaze band released a hauntingly beautiful record, called All Fell Silent, Everything Went Quiet. The singles for their upcoming release sound promising, so let’s hope it’s as good as their last.

Consistency is the name of the game with this band. While An Autumn for Crippled Children have yet to blow me away, they just keep putting out albums that are consistently good.

Chaz is looking forward to Esoctrilihum’s Dy’th Requiem for the Serpent Telepath:

Esoctrilihum – Dy’th Requiem for the Serpent Telepath

French black metal troupe Esoctrilihum’s all-new, all-evil 120-minute opus captivates from start to finish with a variety of unique textures like piano, synth, and violin.

Leon is looking forward to Borgne’s Temps Morts, and Odraza’s Acedia:

Borgne – Temps Morts

Swiss industrial atmospheric black metal whose 2021’s “Y” was one of my top albums of the year. Sprawling, mechanic, textured, mysterious. Hard recommend.

Odraza – Acedia

Off the heels of their 2020 hit “Rzeczom”, Odraza return as one of the leading representatives of the Polish black metal style with this short EP.
