Upcoming Albums – August, 26th

Here are Metal Utopia’s most anticipated albums of the week!

Jared is looking forward to Auriferous Flame’s The Great Mist Within, Consumption’s Necrotic Lust, Cathartic’s Through the Abysmal Gates of Subconscious, Lustre’s A Thirst for Summer Rain, and Blackbraid’s Blackbraid I:

Auriferous Flame – The Great Mist Within

A side project by Greek black metal musician Ayloss, Auriferous Flame puts forward the atmospheric and melancholic ideas that aren’t reflected by his other projects, Spectral Lore and Mystras. I’ve reviewed this record, so go give that a read as well.

Consumption – Necrotic Lust

Some nasty Swedish death metal. Need I say more?

Cathartic – Through the Abysmal Gates of Subconscious

Death metal debut from a group out of Mexico with a promising sound.

Lustre – A Thirst for Summer Rain

This one wasn’t even on my radar until I read Spenser’s review of it. Now I need to check this band out.

Blackbraid – Blackbraid I

Indigenous black metal from the Adirondacks. The single sounded incredible, so I’m eagerly awaiting this one.

Leon is looking forward to and Pilori’s Quand bien même l’enfer et le déluge s’abattraient sur nous:

Pilori – Quand bien même l’enfer et le déluge s’abattraient sur nous

French blackened neocrust is my jam, and Pilori deliver exactly that. Also, the production is towards the sludge side of things, so the whole thing is quite chunky and packs extra punch.

Nathan is looking forward to Dreadnought’s The Endless, and Sigh’s Shiki:

Dreadnought – The Endless

Dreadnought make excellent, dreamy, lush prog. Any new album by this band is worth diving into.

Sigh – Shiki

Heir to Despair wasn’t their best, but Sigh are still one of the best black metal bands around. No one else makes music quite like this.

Rutger is looking forward to and Lustre’s A Thirst for Summer Rain:

Lustre – A Thirst for Summer Rain

Lustre’s previous record Ashes of Light was a beautiful one that I still put on every so often, so I’m looking forward to hearing the next album.
