Vital Spirit – Still as the Night, Cold as the Wind

Reviewing this piece of Western black metal, and I don’t see enough people talking about it. Takes a faithful and respectful look at the history of the Indigenous tribes of the American southwest, in a great black metal package.

Haunter – Discarnate Ails

This record is a monster. Absolutely gigantic, I struggled in my review to put to words how incredible this thing is. When this drops it’s going to shake the death metal underground. Haunter have outdone themselves and created something that we’ll be talking about for a long time.

Cosmic Putrefaction – Crepuscular Dirge for the Blessed Ones

Looking forward to hearing this. I enjoyed Cosmic Putrefaction’s last record, and though they’re certainly not the best cosmic death metal out there, they’re a welcome member of the club.

Wo Fat – The Singularity

One of my guilty pleasures is dumb psychadelic Sabbath-worshipping stoner music. Wo Fat have a huge back catalog that I’ve yet to dive into, but I heard their single and it piqued my interest. Looking forward to checking this out.

Leon is looking forward to Soul Grinder’s Queen Corrosia, and Malthusian / Suffering Hour’s Time’s Withering Shadow Split:

2019’s “The Prophecy of Blight” was a great piece of filthy thrash/heavy metal. I was certainly itching for more, and now I have it.

Malthusian / Suffering Hour – Time’s Withering Shadow Split

Malthusian was an important name in the development of the modern wave of cavernous death metal, and Suffering Hour is one of its great practitioners that transceded the style with their last record. Forty minutes of new music from these two legends (and just one cover song!).

Filthy speed metal from Chile, imbued with that special kind of enthusiasm that only South American metal bands can have; I can’t wait to hear it and have fun with it.

Italian instrumental industrial/electronic metal project Master Boot Record releases their tenth full-length since 2016. The previous releases have all been impressive, so I’m looking forward to hearing the next computer-themed offering.

Ufomammut – Fenice

Italian stoner/doom trio Ufomammut release their first full-length in five years. The band really succeeds in enchanting their listeners with their music, so I’m looking forward to being mesmerized by their new album.

Ibaraki – Rashomon

Matt Heafy has been working on his black metal project for about ten years before joining hands with Ihsahn as a producer and bringing the music to his fans. The singles were promising, so I’m curious what the full record will be like.
